Take A Moment…

27 Feb

In life one of the greatest gifts in my opinion is music. Music has the ability to transcend generations, races, and gender, and one of my favourite genres is R&B. This genre, although mainly dominated with songs about love and love making, at times produces music about subjects that truly make you see things in a different light.

Miguel is the perfect balance of these expectations. His album ‘Kaleidoscope Dream’ most definitely has songs about love such as, ‘Do You’ and ‘Adorn’ but the amazing thing is that he balances that with a beautiful song called ‘Candles In The Sun’ which I’m obsessed with. The lyrics are beautiful, the video a piece of cinematic art, his message strong, and his voice haunting.

Enjoy

Mrs. Carter World Tour!!!

4 Feb

Last night Beyonce was absolutely incredible during her halftime performance. I, as well as many millions of people around the world would love to be able to command a stage like she can. All she has to do is stand and smize (smiling with your eyes) just the slightest bit, and she can have crowds of thousands screaming in disbelief. She has that IT factor that is intangiable. Along wih her flawless voice and killer bod, the Destiny’s Child reunion had me giddy and brought me back to my childhood.

Wait There’s More!

As a good friend of mine, William Reid, would say, hold onto your life alert kids! If a Destiny’s Child reunion and Beyonce at the halftime show wasn’t enough, Queen Bey announced that she will be going on a WORLD TOUR! I just about lost it after this announcement. I have been fortunate enough to attend one Beyonce concert in my life, and now with this world tour, I’ll be able to experience her talent in person for the second time!

As you can probably tell, I can barely contain my enthusiasm! Her concerts are truly a once-in-a-lifetime experience and I’m so excited that she will be coming back to Toronto.

Even though I don’t have tickets, because they are not even on sale yet, I’m very hopeful that I’ll be able to snag one up before they’re sold out and attend this concert of a lifetime.

Super Bowl!!!!!

I have to admit, when it comes on to sports, I’m not exactly the biggest fan girl. Although I don’t spend much time watching games, I do enjoy attending them. The atmosphere of the crowd, lights, music and of course the athletes can transform any viewer into a fan.

This brings me to Super Bowl 47! There’s something about the Super Bowl that has the ability to captivate the world. The grand scale of it alone is amazing! Every year I tune in to watch what is considered to be one of, if not, the biggest televised events of the year. For those few hours its on, I am truly transformed into a mega fan, and although I don’t understand the rules and have difficulty keeping me eyes off all the very handsome men in tight pants, I truly have a fun time watching!

This year especially I’m so anxious for it to start. My favourite singer of all time, Beyonce, is performing the half time show! She is without question one of the greatest performers that has ever graced this earth and I can only imagine how spectacular her performance will be tonight!

Needless to say I’m looking forward to this Super Bowl and I’ll end today’s post with some good luck vibes for the team I’m cheering for tonight. Go Ravens Go!!!!

Be Yourself

1 Feb

Lately everywhere I look, there are constant reminders that Valentine’s Day is around the corner. February 14, the day to handout Valentine’s Day cards, receive boxes of chocolate, and be with the one that you love. Unfortunately for me this is going to be my 19th year celebrating this holiday single.

Now before I go any further and get called out for sounding bitter, I’m not. However like most single people who have never experienced love, it’s something we look forward to. That mystery of what if it feels like when you love someone and they love you just as much.

And then theres the questions that no one can seem to answer. What does it feel like to be in love? How do you differentiate love, lust and admiration? Is being in love truly all its cracked up to be? These are questions I’ve been asking for years, with the same answer, ‘Once you’re in love, you just know’! I guess in my case and for all single people out there, patience truly is a virtue.

As an optimist and huge Disney fan, I believe there is a prince charming out there for everyone. As for me, I’ve yet to find mine, but Im choosing to believe he’s on route to the ball.

Happy Friday 🙂

Kiss Me (Song Sundays)

27 Jan

This weeks Song Sunday is from Ed Sheeran! I have been listening to his album + around the clock. I love coming home after a stressful day of university and listening to his whole album because it is so unbelievably calming.

My favourite song off the album is ‘Kiss Me’. I first heard this song while watching an episode of ‘Vampire Diaries’, and while it was playing I had to shazaam it so I could add it to my collection. The lyrics, which were written by Sheeran, are so beautiful and really have the, at times difficult, ability to truly make you feel as though they were written about you. Their simplicity and imagery makes it easy for you to fall in love with the lyrics as well as the song that accompany them.

I really can’t say enough positive things about this song and the proof is in the pudding. I guess it’s easy to say that I’m a huge fan of Ed Sheeran!

I think it’s a must listen and a song I’ll never get tired of.
