Take A Moment…

27 Feb

In life one of the greatest gifts in my opinion is music. Music has the ability to transcend generations, races, and gender, and one of my favourite genres is R&B. This genre, although mainly dominated with songs about love and love making, at times produces music about subjects that truly make you see things in a different light.

Miguel is the perfect balance of these expectations. His album ‘Kaleidoscope Dream’ most definitely has songs about love such as, ‘Do You’ and ‘Adorn’ but the amazing thing is that he balances that with a beautiful song called ‘Candles In The Sun’ which I’m obsessed with. The lyrics are beautiful, the video a piece of cinematic art, his message strong, and his voice haunting.

Enjoy

RTA Harlem Shake

12 Feb

If you haven’t heard, there is a new viral video called ‘The Harlem Shake’ making its way around the internet

Seeing that I’m in a Radio and Television Arts Program, it was only fitting that we make our own version. Our professor was gracious enough to let us film near the end of our lecture in the massive AMC theatre! This video could not be possible without the organization of one of our fellow students Michael and the enthusiasm of my RTA Family!

Enjoy 🙂

A Gleeful Surprise (Friday Favourites)

8 Feb

Despite having a crazy record-breaking snow storm in Toronto today, the weather hasn’t kept my spirits down. I am so excited about today’s Friday Favourites!!!

For the past few months I’ve been working with an amazing foundation called ‘The Sunshine Foundation.’ They work to fulfill dreams of children in Canada living with a permanent disability.

When I first contacted them, my initial dream was to fly out to LA to go meet Ellen Degeneres. Unfortunately after contacting back-and-forth we figured out that due to high demand the dream to meet Ellen would be quite hard and a lengthy process. So I decided to make another dream. My second dream was either to go to the set of ‘Glee’ and meet the cast or have the chance to meet Tyler Perry.

I don’t want to give away too much about which dream I’ve decided to pursue, but what I will say is that through working with the foundation I’ve had so many amazing experiences! I’ve had the chance to speak at the Winners/Homsense headquarters on their behalf, and I also had the rare opportunity to meet Naya Rivera from ‘Glee’. I had the chance to interview her for more than 25 minutes and we did a press event together. It was such a great opportunity and she was such a genuine and fun person to spend the day with.

The Gift!

This brings me to Friday Favourites! Yesterday I was sitting at home when I received a package in the mail. When I opened it I was so surprised at what I found. I was sent two official scripts from ‘Glee!’ Naya Rivera knows I am a huge fan of the show, so she had almost all of the cast members of ‘Glee’ sign the scripts for me. Some of the signatures included Jane Lynch, Lea Michele, Cory Monteith and Kevin McHale!

I know that this gift is truly invaluable and I’m so appreciative that they took the time to sign it and send it out to me. Thank you will never be enough but once again thank you thank you thank you for this amazing gift.

Happy Friday!

Mrs. Carter World Tour!!!

4 Feb

Last night Beyonce was absolutely incredible during her halftime performance. I, as well as many millions of people around the world would love to be able to command a stage like she can. All she has to do is stand and smize (smiling with your eyes) just the slightest bit, and she can have crowds of thousands screaming in disbelief. She has that IT factor that is intangiable. Along wih her flawless voice and killer bod, the Destiny’s Child reunion had me giddy and brought me back to my childhood.

Wait There’s More!

As a good friend of mine, William Reid, would say, hold onto your life alert kids! If a Destiny’s Child reunion and Beyonce at the halftime show wasn’t enough, Queen Bey announced that she will be going on a WORLD TOUR! I just about lost it after this announcement. I have been fortunate enough to attend one Beyonce concert in my life, and now with this world tour, I’ll be able to experience her talent in person for the second time!

As you can probably tell, I can barely contain my enthusiasm! Her concerts are truly a once-in-a-lifetime experience and I’m so excited that she will be coming back to Toronto.

Even though I don’t have tickets, because they are not even on sale yet, I’m very hopeful that I’ll be able to snag one up before they’re sold out and attend this concert of a lifetime.

Super Bowl!!!!!

I have to admit, when it comes on to sports, I’m not exactly the biggest fan girl. Although I don’t spend much time watching games, I do enjoy attending them. The atmosphere of the crowd, lights, music and of course the athletes can transform any viewer into a fan.

This brings me to Super Bowl 47! There’s something about the Super Bowl that has the ability to captivate the world. The grand scale of it alone is amazing! Every year I tune in to watch what is considered to be one of, if not, the biggest televised events of the year. For those few hours its on, I am truly transformed into a mega fan, and although I don’t understand the rules and have difficulty keeping me eyes off all the very handsome men in tight pants, I truly have a fun time watching!

This year especially I’m so anxious for it to start. My favourite singer of all time, Beyonce, is performing the half time show! She is without question one of the greatest performers that has ever graced this earth and I can only imagine how spectacular her performance will be tonight!

Needless to say I’m looking forward to this Super Bowl and I’ll end today’s post with some good luck vibes for the team I’m cheering for tonight. Go Ravens Go!!!!
