Take A Moment…

27 Feb

In life one of the greatest gifts in my opinion is music. Music has the ability to transcend generations, races, and gender, and one of my favourite genres is R&B. This genre, although mainly dominated with songs about love and love making, at times produces music about subjects that truly make you see things in a different light.

Miguel is the perfect balance of these expectations. His album ‘Kaleidoscope Dream’ most definitely has songs about love such as, ‘Do You’ and ‘Adorn’ but the amazing thing is that he balances that with a beautiful song called ‘Candles In The Sun’ which I’m obsessed with. The lyrics are beautiful, the video a piece of cinematic art, his message strong, and his voice haunting.

Enjoy

Mrs. Carter World Tour!!!

4 Feb

Last night Beyonce was absolutely incredible during her halftime performance. I, as well as many millions of people around the world would love to be able to command a stage like she can. All she has to do is stand and smize (smiling with your eyes) just the slightest bit, and she can have crowds of thousands screaming in disbelief. She has that IT factor that is intangiable. Along wih her flawless voice and killer bod, the Destiny’s Child reunion had me giddy and brought me back to my childhood.

Wait There’s More!

As a good friend of mine, William Reid, would say, hold onto your life alert kids! If a Destiny’s Child reunion and Beyonce at the halftime show wasn’t enough, Queen Bey announced that she will be going on a WORLD TOUR! I just about lost it after this announcement. I have been fortunate enough to attend one Beyonce concert in my life, and now with this world tour, I’ll be able to experience her talent in person for the second time!

As you can probably tell, I can barely contain my enthusiasm! Her concerts are truly a once-in-a-lifetime experience and I’m so excited that she will be coming back to Toronto.

Even though I don’t have tickets, because they are not even on sale yet, I’m very hopeful that I’ll be able to snag one up before they’re sold out and attend this concert of a lifetime.

Friday Favourites! Nail Polish Edition

18 Jan

One of the things I’ve had a fun time collecting over the past year and a half is nail polish! I even went as far as buying a nail rack that can hold over 60 different polishes and I’ve already started to run out of room! So today I’m counting down my top five favourite nail polishes of all time!

5. Smoke and Ashes

My fifth favourite nail polish is Smoke and Ashes by China Glaze. This polish is from ‘The Hunger Games Collection’ and I think it’s absolutely gorgeous! At times a pure black polish can look quite harsh on me, so the fact that this polish has subtle green sparkles makes it amongst my fav nail polishes!

4. Penny Talk

I have a bit of a love hate relationship with this polish. To start this polish is from Essie’s ‘Mirror Metallic Collection’ which includes other metallic colours including silver, gold, blue and purple. Unfortunately this nail polish dries very quickly which often leads to streak marks, however I love the colour soo much that the tricky application is worth the hassle!

3. Fiji

Fiji by Essie is every girls best friend. It is the perfect baby pink and a colour that truly looks great on all skin tones. I really don’t have to say much more because the colour speaks for itself and thats why it is among my favourites!

2. Set In Stones

Out of all the colours I’ve collected, Set In Stone is easily my most commonly used. Though I’ve never worn it alone, this sparkly top coat is perfect for an accent nail which is my favourite way to add personality to your manicure.

1. Mint Candy Apple

Mint Candy Apple

So here we are at number one! My favourite nail polish is Mint Candy Apple by Essie!! I’ve loved this colour for so long and it is definitely my go to polish. I like to do my nails every week and I am not very afraid to try bold colours, however when my creativity stops I can always rely on Mint Candy Apple. Although some people see this as a purely spring/summer colour, I love wearing it all year round. It’s such a beautiful green and is such a versatile and easy to wear colour for everyone! This is why it is my favourite!!!

Cheetah-Liscious

14 Jan

Today I came across a great find! After my very early morning lecture, I felt it was fair for me to treat myself to some retail therapy 🙂

After browsing through the mall I decided to pop my head in one of my favourite stores ‘Forever 21’

I was immediately drawn to the accessories section and that’s when I found this ring! I immediately loved it because its so different from anything else I have in my personal collection. As well it is cheetah inspired which is a slight obsession of mine as of recently and best of all it was only $6.80!!

Check it out below and let me know what you think?

Secret Santa!

13 Dec

Like I said before, this holiday season is really one of my favorite times of the year.

Secret Santa

Now that it is the end of the semester, everyone in my program decided to do a Secret Santa gift exchange! Although I never figured out who had me, I’m really excited and grateful for the gift I received from them.

I received three gorgeous OPI nail polishes that I am absolutely in love with. If anyone knows me, they know I’m obsessed with nail polish 🙂
