Summer Of The Concerts!

2 Mar

I cannot even begin to explain how excited I am for this spring/summer season!!! Not only will I be wrapping up school and getting excited for what craziness the summer holds, I will also be attending some of the most amazing concerts of the entire year!

At the beginning of 2013 I made a choice that this year I would try to attend as many concerts as I possibly could. They are one of the greatest events you could ever attend. The combination of a night out on the town, a live crowd, and everyone just having an amazing time watching the artist perform their heart out on the stage, is a feeling beyond compare. I don’t know about everyone else, but whenever I leave a concert I feel on top of the world.

So who am I going to see?

Rihanna

The very first concert that I’m attending this year is Rihanna’s Diamond World Tour on March 18th!!! As controversial of a star she is, it’s hard to deny that Rihanna has the ability to knock out hit after hit. As I wrote earlier in a previous blog, I’ve really loved her ‘Unapologetic’ CD and I cannot wait to see her in concert.

Bruno Mars

The second concert I’m going to see is the Bruno Mars Moonshine Jungle World Tour! Bruno Mars has proven to be an amazing performer. After watching his previous Grammy performances and his acoustic performances on YouTube, I can only imagine how incredible his concert along with his enthusiastic band will be! To add the cherry on top, Ellie Goulding will be his opening act 🙂

Justin Timberlake & Jay-Z!!!!

Okay! Let’s be honest, I don’t even know how they were able to get two of the biggest stars to go on tour together. Justin Timberlake and Jay-Z in one concert is mind blowing. I’ve been a fan of Justin since his N’SYNC days, I was a fan when he broke out as a solo artist and I was even a fan when he left music to be an actor. Now that he’s back in action and bringing Jay-Z, one of the industries most respected artists on tour with him, this concert is without a doubt going to be out of this world. Words can’t describe how excited and privileged I feel to have a ticket to this event.

BEYONCÉ

To top it all off, I will be attending one of the most anticipated concerts of the entire year. Everybody knows that Beyoncé can siinnnggggg, but more importantly everyone knows that Beyoncé is a world class performer! She is an artist that leads her soul out on the stage and gives every performance all of her effort for her loving crap. Shortly after her Super Bowl performance, she announced that she was going to be going going on a world tour. Seeing that Beyoncé is my favorite singer of all time, I need that these tickets to be hard to get, but necessary. After a lot of research I was able to get access to a ticket sale before they went on sale to the general public, and I was able to obtain two priceless tickets. This concert is truly the greatest icing on the cake for all the concerts that I will be attending and I can almost guarantee it will be the greatest of them all!!

Needless to say I think it’s clear I have a lot to look forward to in the near future, and I hope to be blogging about my experiences at each of these concerts as they come.

Take A Moment…

27 Feb

In life one of the greatest gifts in my opinion is music. Music has the ability to transcend generations, races, and gender, and one of my favourite genres is R&B. This genre, although mainly dominated with songs about love and love making, at times produces music about subjects that truly make you see things in a different light.

Miguel is the perfect balance of these expectations. His album ‘Kaleidoscope Dream’ most definitely has songs about love such as, ‘Do You’ and ‘Adorn’ but the amazing thing is that he balances that with a beautiful song called ‘Candles In The Sun’ which I’m obsessed with. The lyrics are beautiful, the video a piece of cinematic art, his message strong, and his voice haunting.

Enjoy

Mrs. Carter World Tour!!!

4 Feb

Last night Beyonce was absolutely incredible during her halftime performance. I, as well as many millions of people around the world would love to be able to command a stage like she can. All she has to do is stand and smize (smiling with your eyes) just the slightest bit, and she can have crowds of thousands screaming in disbelief. She has that IT factor that is intangiable. Along wih her flawless voice and killer bod, the Destiny’s Child reunion had me giddy and brought me back to my childhood.

Wait There’s More!

As a good friend of mine, William Reid, would say, hold onto your life alert kids! If a Destiny’s Child reunion and Beyonce at the halftime show wasn’t enough, Queen Bey announced that she will be going on a WORLD TOUR! I just about lost it after this announcement. I have been fortunate enough to attend one Beyonce concert in my life, and now with this world tour, I’ll be able to experience her talent in person for the second time!

As you can probably tell, I can barely contain my enthusiasm! Her concerts are truly a once-in-a-lifetime experience and I’m so excited that she will be coming back to Toronto.

Even though I don’t have tickets, because they are not even on sale yet, I’m very hopeful that I’ll be able to snag one up before they’re sold out and attend this concert of a lifetime.

Kiss Me (Song Sundays)

27 Jan

This weeks Song Sunday is from Ed Sheeran! I have been listening to his album + around the clock. I love coming home after a stressful day of university and listening to his whole album because it is so unbelievably calming.

My favourite song off the album is ‘Kiss Me’. I first heard this song while watching an episode of ‘Vampire Diaries’, and while it was playing I had to shazaam it so I could add it to my collection. The lyrics, which were written by Sheeran, are so beautiful and really have the, at times difficult, ability to truly make you feel as though they were written about you. Their simplicity and imagery makes it easy for you to fall in love with the lyrics as well as the song that accompany them.

I really can’t say enough positive things about this song and the proof is in the pudding. I guess it’s easy to say that I’m a huge fan of Ed Sheeran!

I think it’s a must listen and a song I’ll never get tired of.

Natalie (Song Sundays)

20 Jan

My song of the week is ‘Natalie’ by Bruno Mars.

Last Sunday I finally downloaded Bruno Mars’ latest album ‘Unorthodox Juxebox’ and after his last album ‘Doo-Wops & Hooligans’ I had very high expectations for his latest music. Luckily for me I wasn’t disappointed. The album was a great mix of pop, blues and a touch of reggae.

Besides his chart topper ‘Locked Out Of Heaven’, one song that really jumped out at me was ‘Natalie’. It first caught my attention because the title of the song is the same name as one of my best friends, so I had to listen to it first.

The song talks about a girl who took advantage of him and stole all of money and he’s talking about and plotting his revenge. I thought it was really interesting and very different from songs we’re used to hearing about, which generally deal with love and heartbreak. I’m not quite sure if this song was written about actual experiences in Bruno Mars’ life, but the the lyrics and the composition of the song really created an authentic feel and that’s why it’s my song of the week.
